Cupola’ – the crown in the roof of the big top. The exhibition ‘Cupola’ marks the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of UK modern circus in 2018. Becky Truman, artistic director and aerialist for Skinning the Cat has created sculptures that explore audience and artist engagement through the circus experience. The exhibition parallels a Skinning the Cat costume displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, which marks the company’s role in the creation of contemporary circus. The exhibition will include, amongst others, the costume which worked as a duo on the trapeze with the one displayed in the V&A.

Skyhooked was created to exhibit the performance installations Ground Bound and Pre Show. The exhibition included text, film projection, costumes and sculpture to evoke the atmosphere and feeling of these subjects.
Exhibition Workshops
Life-casting Workshop
Life casting is a beautiful craft which captures the personality of the individual. Workshop participants can cast their own hands or a family member or friend, choose whether to do hands individually or holding hands. The finished pieces will be ready to take home.
Mask Making Workshop
Mask making develops and creates a character. Using simple cardboard templates or more advanced sculpting techniques participants can develop their fantasy character .
Rebecca Truman Talk
Focussing on her career as artistic director and performer for Skinning the Cat – Circus of the Sky – Rebecca Truman will discuss the company’s identity as a female troupe and her role within the circus industry; creating costumes, setting up rigging, driving trucks to what it means to be a female trapeze catcher.
